In its approach to operate and manage the port, Sokhna Port Development Company [SPDC] relies on the concept "TOTAL MANAGEMENT". In this regard, business automation and integration between the different operating parties inside the port lend themselves as Critical Success Factors.

In this regard, great emphasis has been placed on establishing an advanced wide area network inside the port compound in order to enable the realization of data interchange and systems integration.

Moreover, SPDC took the time and effort to complement the existing automation facilities available in Customs with additional automation services, to develop a complete integrated system to automate the business procedures for the General Organization for Export & Import Control [GOEIC] and to establish the integration between all operational systems inside the port.

The Sokhna Port automation systems utilize a wide variety of technologies including Electronic Data Interchange, Mobile telephony Messaging, E-mail/E-fax messaging, Radio Data Terminals, Electronic Weighbridges, 1d/2d Document Scanning, Touch Screen Kiosks, etc. in order to establish such a unique automation model.

In order to facilitate Direct Trader Input facilities, SPDC developed its web site to include Customs & GOEIC web services to include declaration input and advanced tracking facilities.
